Northwest Passage November 2017

REFLECTIONS ON THE JOURNEY...

Sandy Messick, Regional Minister

I saw a video awhile back that has stayed with me, “Hannah Cohen’s Holy Communion.”

The video is of a little girl named Hannah playing in front of her home when one of her friends walks past all dressed in white lace finery. “It’s the best day ever,” says the friend, “Today is my first communion.” “What’s so great about that?” asks Hannah.  “Well, you get presents and get to dress like a princess and later we will have a party.”

Youth Winter Retreat

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” , John 14:27

Our wold seems to be filled with fear, all the way from the fears of what is happening in our world to the fears that reside within our hearts. This February at our annual winter retreat we will be exploring how if we let them, the fears hold us back. But as we turn to God in faith we can find freedom. Come and explore with us the path from fear to freedom at Camp Koinonia in Cle Elum on Feburary 22-24th.

SpiritSightings November 2017

The word came to my phone just as I was leaving worship with First Christian, Clarkston this past Sunday afternoon. It was a Facebook message from my Aunt-in-law, Jayne, telling me that her husband, Tom’s uncle, Robert, had passed away suddenly that morning. It was a surprise and yet not. He had been in ill health for a lifetime it seemed but we had just visited with him a week earlier on our trip to Pittsburgh. Tom and I will be heading back to Pittsburgh this weekend for the memorial service.
